Jewel of the Ostriconi…

Climb up to the rocky peak and admire the village of Lama.

Wander around the narrow stony streets, through the arched passageways and discover the heart of the old village with houses built into the rock. You will be pelasantly surprised by the I Palazzi, bourgeois houses with Italian-style architecture, which bear witness to a rich past of olive cultivation. Cool off in one of the former cheese cellars and then take the steps up to the Place de l’Umbria… Take a deep breath of fresh air and admire the exceptional view over the Ostriconi and the Agriate. Are you starting to fall in love with this village? You still haven’t seen everything.

Take a moment to sit on the stone wall in the shade of the large plane tree and don’t forget to go into the Stallò: Here you can learn about the history of Lama. The local people will tell you all about their village through a photo exhibition in the former stables which have been remarkably refurbished.

If you like walking, you will enjoy the hike up Monte Astu where a spectacular view awaits you. The heritage trail, dotted with fountains which were built along the gardens, or the former mule track which leads to the neighbouring village of Urtaca. Welcome to Lama…
