Meet the locals…

When local people are open to meeting travellers passing through their land, that’s when you can really discover a region or destination. Visting Balagne is made all the more special when you appreciate the warm welcome from the local people. These people will ensure you take unforgettable memories home with you. Some of them are even ambassadors of the well-known network known as Rencontres Balanines © (Encounters in Balagne).

Listen to the song…

As you walk around the villages and towns of Balagne, you will notice the unique accent here which sounds like a melody. It can be heard, in song this time, in the improvised chjami è rispondi and paghjelle during village celebrations or in the churches of Balagne.

The soul of Balagne in the hands of the craftspeople…

Push open the doors to the arts and crafts workshops in Balagne. Through their expertise, these men and women showcase the talent of Balagne. They are glassmakers, potters… or even instrument makers. The passionate local producers here bring to you the very best of Corsican food products, every day: cheese, wines, deli meats, oil, honey and biscuits. These top quality producers, bringing you the best of the best in taste and authenticity, can be found at the traditional and crafts fairs all year round in Balagne.

Terra sacra…

Balagne is also called the Saint, and for good reason! The patron saints of the villages, carried in procession by the local people and chants of the brotherhoods heard in the churches show that traditions are still very much alive here. You too can participate in the fervour of these emotional events or just simply observe. In Balagne, more so than elsewhere, the Corsican hospitality is shown in an elegant and gentle way, as described with the expression “balaninu untu è finu” (The native from Balagne is well-oiled and  refined, or elegant and polite! Some people can see a double meaning to this expression… but who cares!)
