In Pigna, the Centre National de Création Musicale VOCE offers nearly a hundred concerts and events in its auditorium throughout the year, with numerous creative residencies, as well as its annual Festivoce festival in July.
Officially a cultural center since 2009, the VOCE project is part of a cultural history spanning more than 50 years. Locally rooted in tradition, history and language, it is open to the world in all its artistic and cultural diversity. As part of this dual dynamic, CNCM VOCE has been awarded two labels: Locally, as Fabbrica Culturale, a major player in Corsican culture. Nationally, as the Centre National de Création Musicale (CNCM), alongside seven other major centers in Paris, Lyon, Marseille and elsewhere. CNCM VOCE offers some twenty creative residencies a year, over 120 concerts and performances, and a historic festival in July, celebrating its 33rd edition this year. The VOCE project also includes : Training, with masterclasses and the Scola di Musica. A museum, MuseuMusica, for an immersion in traditional Corsican and Mediterranean music. A research center, with a sound archive that can be consulted on Repertorium. VOCE defends the idea that contemporary musical creation, in all its richness and hybridity, is not confined to the big cities. Culture must be as close to the people as possible, and rural areas are ideal laboratories for its development, particularly in Balagne, a land of musical tradition in the heart of Corsica.
