La Pietra Lighthouse signals the entry point to Corsica's north-west coastline. Marking the end of your visit to the island of La Pietra, it offers magnificent views over the hinterland and the shores of Balagne.

It dates from the third quarter of the 19th century, during the reign of Napoleon III. It is built on the highest point of the island of Pietra, linked by a dike to Ile-Rousse. It marks the entrance to the north-western coast of Corsica. The lighthouse known as "la Pietra" is part of the second wave of installations that disappeared in Corsica, along with the one in Ajaccio. The current lighthouse is a square tower, centred on a square base, in smooth masonry, painted white, with the lantern painted green. A guard house is attached to it. It is powered by solar panels. It is automated and cannot be visited.

News: works organised by the Conservatoire du Littoral force the train to stop at the Tour génoise des îles. Pedestrian access is also prohibited. Duration of the works not communicated.
