Flamme Olympique à L'Ile-Rousse

On May 14, L'Ile-Rousse will have the immense honor of welcoming the Olympic flame as part of the 2024 Olympic Games!
It's a historic moment on the horizon, as the flame lights up our streets and hearts with its emblematic glow.
The municipality wants every citizen to take part in this exceptional event. Come and take part in this popular relay, open to all, symbolizing the spirit of unity and sharing that characterizes the Olympic Games.

The flame will set off from the Pietra lighthouse, reaching the Place Pascal Paoli.
The public can watch the Olympic flame pass from the port roundabout to the Monument aux Morts. The rest of the route (from the Monument aux Morts to Place Paoli, via Rue Notre Dame) will be reserved for the 600 schoolchildren from all over Haute-Corse.
More than just a stopover, this day will be a celebration of sport and its universal values, where young and old can come together to experience unique and unforgettable moments.
The town of L'Ile-Rousse, together with local sports associations, will be offering all children a range of introductory sports: boxing, handball, gym, sailing, soccer, tennis and trail running, as well as activities organized by the Souris verte.
Get ready for a day full of excitement, sport and sharing!

It's best to be positioned between the port roundabout and the Monument aux Morts at 9.30 a.m. to watch the torch relay. You can also watch the finish at 10:45 a.m. on Place Paoli.

On the program:

-8:30am: Casa Cumuna - Welcome of torchbearers
-9am: Piazza Paoli - Welcome of 600 students and positioning on the course
- 10:15 am: Fanale di A Pietra - Start of the Olympic Flame. The public can watch the flame pass between the Port roundabout and the Monument aux Morts.
- 10:45: Piazza Paoli - Arrival of the Olympic Flame
- 11:15am: Piazza Paoli - 2 residents of the Âge d'Or (Golden Age) club kick off the sports initiations.
- 11:15 am: Mercatu Cupartu - Postponed start of the City Trail from CP to Lycée.
- 12pm: Piazza Paoli - Lunch hosted by the Mairie for all students.
- 1:30 p.m.: Piazza Paoli - Resumption of sports introductions offered by associations: boxing, handball, gym, sailing, soccer, tennis; activities by Souris Verte.
- 4 p.m.: Piazza Paoli - Initiations open to the public
