U Spaziu Pasquale Paoli invites you to discover or rediscover the paintings of Monique Yenco Fusella

Bastide artist Monique YENCO-FUSELLA discovered her passion for painting
for painting at an early age. From Bastia to the Citadelle of Calvi, via Monaco, Chicago or Munich, Marseille or Paris, her talent has continued to assert itself over the years. A career punctuated by exhibitions and awards...

"Suggest rather than affirm, my aim is to make people dream...". Such is Monique Yenco-Fusella's motto. A self-taught painter, she has been exhibiting since 1992. She uses a wide range of materials, from oil paint to tissue paper as a base. To paint, she uses a tool somewhere between a knife and a brush, called a color shaper. After experimenting with abstract art, she finally returned to the concrete, which she prefers. Her painting style is figurative: she observes what's around her to represent it in her canvases. But there's also a touch of the imaginary in her work. For example, the characters she depicts are not real; she creates them as she paints. This year, she painted a number of Balagne landscapes. Monique Yenco-Fusella uses strong colors, different from reality, because as she says, "everything you learn by looking, you retain for life."
