Balagna

The Balagna group was born in Felicetu, a mountain village in the Balagne region, whose name is derived from felica, the root of a perennial fern that grows underground and waits for new life to open up its exuberant vegetation.

Balagna is a journey to the heart of Corsica, its history and, of course, its music.
The group offers a complete immersion in the lives of the men and women who have lived in this land. The songs are carefully selected from the traditional Corsican repertoire, whether polyphonic, secular, sacred, monodic or instrumental.

Balagna also offers a wide range of new creations, where traditional influences blend with many others, including folk, pop, flamenco, South American and classical.

On stage, from one song to the next, the group takes us on a journey through the history of the island, as if through a gallery of paintings linked by a narrative. Polyphonies, folk guitars, classical guitars, "pirule", "pivane", violins, percussion, Sioux flutes, Balagna offers different musical colors and moods from the birth of traditions to the modern world and its problems. Balagna also has two albums: "Cantu chì sò", released in 2018, and "A miò storia", released in 2022.
