Hiking trail to the Ostriconi

Let’s go for a walk in the Valley of Ostriconi. This very beautiful place on the coast of the Balagne will plunge you into a green oasis which blends perfectly into the blue of the sea.

This walk is just perfect if you are looking for a day of contemplation and discovery. To get there, you will  need your car but the rest can be done on foot, following the water. Leave your vehicle near the Camping de l’Ostriconi campsite and take the little footpath.

Wander through the Corsican maquis and breathe in the wonderful scents which the Balagne and its locals are so proud of. The fields and farming lands of this beautiful landscape are covered in Corsican Immortelle. The olive trees form a line of hedges which guide to you a more luxurious, greener place. Listen carefully to the soft sound of the gentle flowing water. The Ostriconi river is now guiding you on your way. Finally, the sound of the rushing water opens up an absolutely wonderful sight for the eyes. The wooden bridge crossing over the river provides a picture-perfect setting in this natural environment…

Take a moment and look up to your right to admire the rocks of Punta Liatoghju. The sand is beginning to take its true place and the first sand dunes are formed here.

Admire the immaculate white sand of Ostriconi Beach, dotted with the intoxicating greens of the maquis. Here, you can choose to lay down your beach towel or to carry on walking along the sea front. Due to the absolute peace and quiet of this beautiful site, you may see some of the locals taking in some of the sun’s rays on this beach…

If you so wish, you can carry on walking along the Agriate coastal path where another protected natural area is just waiting to be discovered!
