Let the party begin!

“Vivez heureux aujourd’hui, car demain il sera trop tard” (“Live today, as if it were your last”)… As sung by the French singer Jacques Higelin, and interpreted by Balagne in its own way. This expression is even engraved on the walls of one of the biggest events venues in Balagne, the citadel in Calvi. It is therefore not really a coincidence that festivities come so naturally to the local people here. It is now shown in the multitude of events, concerts and festivals of all kinds which take place here, and are such an important part of life for the locals of Balagne.

Beach n’ Roll…

In July, between the mountains and the sand, on the beach in the day and at the foot of the citadel in the evening, music fills the air. The festival Calvi on the Rocks needs to be seen to be believed. In fact, it’s impossible to describe… it just has to be experienced. It’s an atmosphere… a fantastic festive atmosphere where the younger generations enjoy the pounding music! Thousands of festival-goers from London, Melbourne or even Los Angeles come here every year… So, what are you waiting for?

It’s a fabulous venue in the shade of the hundred-year-old trees. What better a place to discover these original theatre productions? This is a must-see for theatre lovers and budding actors and actresses alike!

A fusion of art and culture…

The Machja Festival project stemmed from a childhood dream of a native from the village. It is about the desire to preserve and export island culture. This desire is portrayed through an intergenerational gathering which takes place in front of the Church of Olmi-Cappella in the middle of August. This cultural project was brought to life by the U Sbiru association, and is a combination of music, gastronomy, art and heritage. There is also a whole host of activities for all generations which will take visitors right to the heart of Corsican identity.

Music blending tradition and modernity…

The Rencontres Musicales of Calenzana is a festival which takes place in the second half of August. This festival attracts the passionate and also those who are just looking for good classic and contemporary music.
