-- Presentation --

Romancero iberico is a concert lasting around 1h15, conceived as a musical and poetic journey around the narrative songs of the Iberian and Sephardic cultures. The romances, sung in Castilian and Ladino, come from collections made on the Mediterranean shores, from Spain to Morocco to the Balkans.

Each song is translated and narrated in French throughout the concert, allowing the audience to discover this literature of oral tradition and rediscover the ancient pleasure of the sung tale. These stories alternate with cantigas and shorter songs in a variety of moods: love songs, serenades, lullabies or songs of everyday life.

Conceived as a musical wake, the concert brings mythical and historical figures to life, mixing stories of lovers, queens and kings. At the crossroads of storytelling and music, Romancero iberico echoes a living, universal memory handed down from generation to generation.
