The Centre National de Création Musicale Voce offers a masterclass led by Benjamin Mélia, dedicated to the traditional flutes of the north-western Mediterranean, for musicians of a good level.
This Masterclass will be led by Benjamin Melia, musician, teacher and concert performer specializing in traditional flutes and Northern Mediterranean music. He has developed a cross-disciplinary approach to interpretation, improvisation and contemporary creation, based on a solid foundation of research and transmission. He teaches at conservatories and takes part in numerous masterclasses, helping students to discover the wealth of repertoires and techniques specific to traditional instruments, with an emphasis on musicality and personal expression. Winner of several awards (Prix Charles Cros, Festival Off d'Avignon...), Benjamin Melia also teaches at the Institut International des Musiques du Monde and the Institut d'Enseignement Supérieur de la Musique d'Aix-en-Provence. - The objectives - Deepen ornamentation and variation in interpretation Explore modal improvisation in traditional music Develop advanced technical maıt̂rise (double and triple detachments, chromatic fingering, breath management, finger strokes, circular breathing...)
