CNCM Voce presents Canta U Populu Corsu, a historic group that is a benchmark in the history of Corsican music, founded in 1973. A forerunner in the revival of Corsican-language singing, it promotes Corsican culture through its concerts in Corsica and beyond.
The artists : François (Ceccè) Buteau Jean-Claude Leca Jean-Dominique Leca Anthony-Pierre Andarelli Jean-Laur Ceccaldi Nicolas Goti Marc'Andria Goti François Mozziconacci Canta U Populu Corsu, literally "The Corsican people sing" (or according to one of its oldest members, Cècè (François) Buteau, "This is what the Corsican people sing") is a Corsican music group committed to Corsican nationalism. The group was founded in 1973. Canta U Populu Corsu is one of the forerunners of the Corsican language singing revival. In 1981, the group set up singing schools all over the island, training young people in polyphonic singing, but above all in the practice of the Corsican language through song. Since then, they have continued their fight to promote the Corsican language and culture through their various tours of Corsica, and have not hesitated to perform outside the island. The group has performed for the Corsican diaspora in other French cities, including Paris (Le Bataclan in 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2011, Olympia in 2006 and 2009, La Cigale in 2010, Le Trianon in 2014), Marseille, Lyon, Aix-en-Provence, Chomerac and the Basque Country, as well as in Switzerland, Italy and Ireland.
